A motor vehicle crash on U.S. Route 40 involving a tractor trailer left two men trapped Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
A tractor trailer from Florida was traveling eastbound on Route 40 when it veered off the road and struck trees in a heavily wooded area at 12:38 p.m., according to police.
Carneys Point Police and local emergency personnel worked several hours to free the driver and an unidentified passenger and were still on scene at 4:30 p.m.
Police do not know the cause of the crash at this time but police said the driver reported swerving to avoid hitting another vehicle.
Both individuals were removed from the vehicle and transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, for non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
The driver sustained injuries on his leg, while the passenger complained of head and shoulder injuries from the collision, police said.
