A 22-year-old Cocoa man was killed after he was hit by a car Tuesday night in Brevard County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to a report, a 2004 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on School Street near Dora Avenue, in Cocoa, around 6:55 p.m.
Ryaunte Blount was traveling in an unknown direction on School Street. The Mustang struck Blount and then continued eastbound, leaving the scene without stopping. The Mustang was later located abandoned on Bay Street. Troopers have talked to the owner of the car, 22-year-old Taylor Edwards, said Sgt. Kim Montes, of the Florida Highway Patrol.
Edwards remains the only person of interest, Montes said.
Blount was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, where he later died.
The crash remains under investigation. Charges are pending.
