Newport News, VA : 5-month-old dies in fiery crash on I-264 in Virginia Beach on Monday afternoon, May 16, 2016

A 5-month-old girl died in a fiery crash on I-264 in Virginia beach Monday afternoon, police said.

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes, west of Rosemont Road, according to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

A 2002 Nissan Sentra broke down in the travel lane and was struck by a 2008 Chevy Silverado. The impact caused the Nissan to spin around and crash into an HRT bus that was not in service, Anaya said.

The impact caused the car to catch fire. The 31-year-old woman driving the car, as well as a 28-year-old man and a 2-year-old girl, were rescued as fire rapidly engulfed the car, Anaya said.
