One person is dead and another is injured after a two-vehicle crash in Turner.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday on Route 219, which is also Howe Corner Road, between Hammond and North River roads.

Deputies said Christopher L. Tibbetts, 27, of Chesterville, lost control of his car and crossed the center line, hitting a pickup truck driven by James S. Wetherell Jr, 30, of Minot.

Tibbetts was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Wetherell was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was treated and released.

Maine State Police were called in to reconstruct the crash, which remains under investigation.
