RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA : 2nd victim from 210 Freeway crash in Rancho Cucamonga on life support on Friday, March 24th 2017

A woman was on life support Sunday after being critically injured Friday in a traffic accident in Rancho Cucamonga.

The crash happened about 3:15 a.m. Friday on the westbound 210 freeway near Archibald Avenue.

A passenger, Claudia Flores-Orantes, 20, of Rialto was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. She was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m. Friday, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office said Sunday.

But a family friend, Francisco Jimenez, said Sunday that doctors were continuing to do tests on Flores-Orantes after she showed some “reflexes” despite being declared dead.

Flores-Orantes signed up to be an organ donor, so the family also wanted to keep her on life support to preserve the organs, Jimenez said.

Earlier, passenger Emauri Scott, 21, of San Bernardino was pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol said in a news release that a Moreno Valley woman was driving a silver Chrysler Sebring east an unknown speed when, for an unknown reason, she veered right.

After crossing all lanes of traffic and the right shoulder of the freeway, the car crashed into an asphalt curb, drove up a dirt embankment and hit a palm tree before rolling and landing on its wheels, the release said. The woman suffered minor injuries, the CHP said.
