Memphis, TN : Driver charged in Chelsea Ave fatal car crash on Saturday, March 26, 2016
The driver has been charged in a car crash that left one person dead.
The crash happened at 7:50 p.m. at Chelsea Avenue and Oakwood Street.
Investigators said a 2005 Chrysler Sebring, driven by 28-year-old Jeremy Williamson, hit a MLGW utility pole after the driver lost control.
The passenger in the car, Shannon Trysail Vaughn, 42, was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officers originally said more people were injured in the crash, but later said only one other person, Williamson, was injured. Williamson was taken to Regional Medical Center in non-critical condition.
Police said Williamson had been possibly drinking prior to the crash.
Williamson is charged with reckless vehicle homicide, reckless driving, driving under the influence, public intoxication and financial responsibility.
