LITTLE FALLS, NY : Police chase ends with crash in Little Falls on Wednesday, January, 31st 2018
State police Wednesday continued their investigation into a motor vehicle crash that occurred on the property of the Herkimer Home State Historic Site following a police chase eariler in the day.
Police Capt. Michael Tietz said around 11:15 a.m. there was a “be on the lookout” for a Jeep Cherokee that had been reported stolen Tuesday from in front of a residence in Albany.
The vehicle was spotted Wednesday morning by state police on the New York State Thruway between Fultonville and Canajoharie, police said.
Tietz said the vehicle got off the Thruway in Canajoharie and headed west on Route 5S and made it to the town of Danube, where it headed onto Route 169 and eventually turned into the drive that leads to the Herkimer Home.
The vehicle went off one of the curves and into some trees, police said.
No injuries were reported.
Tietz said the driver was Edil Bierto Cruz, 37, of Albany, who would be charged with criminal possession of stolen property.
Two other occupants were Jessica Dames, 33, of Albany, and Ashley Seaman, 34, of Troy, police said.
Additional charges are pending, police said.
At least two individuals were escorted from the accident scene in handcuffs.
About a dozen state police vehicles were at the scene, along with an ambulance and fire engine.
A flatbed tow truck was called to remove the vehicle.
