White Plains, NY : NY woman delivering newspapers dies in fatal crash on Monday, November 3, 2014
Authorities say a Westchester County newspaper delivery woman was killed when a wrong-way driver hit the car in which she was riding.
The 47-year-old woman died while making her rounds early Monday in White Plains.
White Plains Public Safety Commissioner David Chong says an off-duty White Plains firefighter was driving the other car. Chong says it was heading north in a southbound lane and apparently going very fast.
Chong says the man is being tested for possible impairment. He suffered facial injuries and bruises.
The Journal News says the woman was an INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR for Publisher's Circulation Fulfillment. The firm delivers the Journal News.
An assistant distribution manager tells the paper the woman was in the car with her husband, who helped with her route. He suffered SERIOUS INJURIES.
