Escondido, CA : Four people dead, 3 injured, after vehicles crash on State Route 78 in San Diego County on Sunday, December 20, 2015
California Highway Patrol officers say four people were killed and three injured in a crash on State Route 78 in Escondido.
CHP Sgt. Curtis Martin says just before 11 p.m. Sunday the driver of a car that had just entered the freeway started to change lanes but saw an SUV and both took evasive action. They still crashed, sending the vehicles over an embankment. The SUV struck two trees.
The car driver, a 25-year-old Fallbrook man, was uninjured. He was released because officers say there was no alcohol, drugs or speed involved.
Martin says the dead and injured were from the Loma Linda area. The dead were females, ages 17, 40 and 75, along with a boy about 9. Three women with moderate to major injuries were taken to hospitals.
