Fort Wayne, IN : One man dead after a four-car crash on Tuesday afternoon, November 15, 2016

One man is dead after a four-car crash Tuesday afternoon, Fort Wayne police said.

At 1:35 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Coliseum and Parnell Avenue on a report of a four-car crash, a statement from city police said.

Witnesses told police a car going east on Coliseum Boulevard at a high rate of speed never slowed, and rear-ended an SUV that was stopped at the light at Coliseum and Parnell. Two other cars stopped at the light were also hit, the statement said.

The driver and the passenger of the car responsible for the crash were seen running away from the crash site toward the south and retail business area parking lots.

One of the drivers involved in the crash was having a heart attack at the scene, and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died, police said.

Not long after the crash happened, police dispatchers got a 911 call reporting that a car had been stolen.

When officers went to meet the person who made the call, they realized he matched the description of the driver seen running away from the crash and detained him, police said.

The other two drivers involved in the crash were not harmed.

The crash remains under investigation.
