Torrance man, elderly MB woman killed on Sepulveda Boulevard

An 87-year-old woman on her daily walk to church and a 41-year-old motorcyclist both died Tuesday when the motorcyclist struck the woman on Sepulveda Boulevard in Manhattan Beach, shutting down the busy thoroughfare for hours.Manhattan Beach police and fire officials found Ruby May Hixson in the far right lane next to the curb in the 600 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, and Daniel Matthew Lindeman lying in the crosswalk at Eighth Street and Sepulveda Boulevard. Paramedics pronounced them dead at the scene."It appears to be a motorcycle versus pedestrian at this point," said Manhattan Beach Police Officer Stephanie Martin. The bodies were still lying in the street covered with white sheets around 9:30 Tuesday morning as authorities surveyed the scene. A pair of white tennis shoes and pieces of red and black metal were scattered across the street. The impact appeared to be at Sixth Street, which had the highest concentration of debris, but Lindeman’s 2007 Kawasaki Ninja sport bike landed on its side two blocks away, just north of El Pollo Loco. Lindeman's helmet came to rest next to a bush half a block south of where his body landed.
