SOUTHINGTON, CT : Connecticut mourns the loss of trooper killed in hit-and-run on Thursday, 30th May 2024

Connecticut is mourning the loss of a state trooper who was killed in the line of duty.

Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier was struck by the driver of a pickup truck during a traffic stop on Interstate 84 in Southington on Thursday.

An escort procession for Pelletier started from the chief medical examiner’s office in Farmington at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. State police said Pelletier was transported to the Della Vecchia Funeral Home in Southington.

“I just felt such sadness. How senseless. He went to work and he’s not coming home,” said Carol Selvaggi, a Southington resident.
