MARLBOROUGH, NH : 1 seriously injured in 3-vehicle crash on Monday, October, 9th 2017

Route 124 in Marlborough is shut down and will remain closed overnight.Crews are still putting water on a propane tanker involved in a crash.

One person was seriously injured.

The crash happened just after 1 p.m. Monday, shutting down Route 124 from Monadnock Street to Troy Road.

State police said a Hyundai Elantra driven by Lanie Obrien, 49, of Swanzey, was rear-ended by a Dodge pickup truck driven by Peter Thomas, 86, of Dublin, sending it into oncoming traffic. It then collided with an Eastern Propane gas tanker, driven by Christopher Tucker, 45, of Greenville, causing the tanker to roll onto its side.

Investigators said the partially-full tanker had a small leak, but it was contained and secured into place.

Since the crash, crews from several fire departments have trucked in water to continue spraying down the tanker as they offload the propane into an empty tanker.

A nearby home was evacuated as a precaution.

Dozens of homes in the area were left without power for hours.

According to state police, Thomas and Tucker were not injured. Obrien was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Investigators said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Richard Camacho at 603-223-8562.

Once the propane tanker can be removed, the state police reconstruction team can begin investigating crash.
