Charlotte, NC : One person died after a single-car crash in Wilkinson Boulevard on Monday January 11 2016.

One person died Monday night after a wreck in west Charlotte, according to police and paramedics.
The single-car crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. in the 6700 block of Wilkinson Boulevard.
Police said the driver, Dennis Damaschke, was rushed to the hospital but died.
Witnesses told officers Damaschke crossed the center line into oncoming traffic, and hit a utility pole.
The inbound lane of the road was closed during the investigation but has reopened.
Officers said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
