MAURY COUNTY, TN : Driver of a minivan died after two cars collided head-on in Maury County on Monday, July 17, 2017

The driver of a minivan died after two cars collided head-on in Maury County early Monday morning.

It happened at 5:15 a.m. on New Highway 7 near the intersection Old TVA Road.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the minivan crossed the center line and hit a Dodge pickup truck.

The fire department says three people were inside a truck and walking around when authorities arrived. They were all taken to Maury Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

There were two inside the van, both of whom were trapped inside. The driver, identified by the THP as 25-year-old Amy Scott, was reportedly on her way to work in Columbia when she died in the crash.

The passenger had to be cut from the van using the jaws of the life. That passenger was then taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with unknown injuries.

The THP will obtain blood samples of drivers of both vehicles but nothing on scene leads investigators to believe alcohol or drugs played a part in crash.
