Two members of a Greenville family were killed and another injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 81 in Luzerne County, Pa., about 6:30 Friday morning.

Debra Johnson, 58, and her son Peter Johnson, 24, were killed. Both were passengers in a Dodge Dart that was hit by a Pontiac Grand Am heading in the wrong direction, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The driver of the car that hit them, 24-year-old Daniel Sleva of Mahanoy City, Pa., was also killed.

The driver of the Dart, 59-year-old Peter Johnson, was transported with minor injuries to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he was in fair condition as of Monday.

The older Peter Johnson has been a bus driver for the Greenville Central School District since 2011, according to Tammy Sutherland, assistant superintendent for business. The younger Peter Johnson has also worked for the schools, as a coach and substitute teacher.

Dozens of community members attended a vigil at the Johnsons' home Friday evening, according to news reports.

Police are still investigating what led Sleva to be driving in the wrong direction on the highway in Butler Township, Pa.

Neither Sleva nor the younger Peter Johnson were wearing seat belts, according to police.
