Leitchfield, KY : Bypass crash injures three on Tuesday September 6 2016

Three individuals were injured in a crash at the intersection of William Thomason Byway and Elizabethtown Road on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6.

At approximately 5:01 p.m. on Tuesday, the Leitchfield Police and Fire Departments and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services (GCEMS) responded to a reported two-vehicle crash on William Thomason Byway (the bypass) in Leitchfield.

According to an accident report by Leitchfield Police Officer DJ Newton, the driver of a white 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, Anthony Johnson, 56, of Leitchfield, told police that, as he was travelling on Elizabethtown Road, he saw a yellow light and thought he could make it through before it turned red.

The Chevrolet then entered the intersection of Elizabethtown Road and the bypass, striking a silver 2009 Toyota Corolla, driven by Anna Witt, 65, of Leitchfield, whom concluded that she had a green light at the time she entered the intersection from the bypass, the report states.

Witt had to be extricated from the Toyota by mechanical means and was transported from the scene by GCEMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center. From there, she was flown to University of Louisville Hospital to receive further treatment for injuries sustained in the accident, according to the report.
