Leland, NC : Man killed when vehicle collided with a dump truck on US 74/76 at Malmo Loop Road on Monday morning, December 21, 2015

A man was killed when his vehicle collided with a dump truck in Leland Monday morning.

According to officials, the wreck was first called in at around 9:30 a.m. on US 74/76 at Malmo Loop Road.

State Highway Patrol troopers said Phillip Brent Bordeaux, 31 of Riegelwood, was driving a red Ford SUV when he ran into the back of the dump truck at a high rate of speed, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators are looking into impairing substances as a factor in the wreck.

Crews closed the eastbound lanes of US 74/76 while they worked to clear the scene.
