Las Vegas , NV : Two people killed and drive charged after high-speed two-vehicle crash and sedan slammed another vehicle at Boulder Highway on Thursday , March 5th 2015

Two people are dead and a driver is being held on the suspicion of a felony offense for driving under the influence after a high-speed two-vehicle crash overnight at a busy southeast Las Vegas intersection.

Police Sgt. Richard Strader tells KVVU-TV Fox 5 a Mercedes-Benz sedan slammed into a Nissan Versa that was making a U-turn about 1:30 a.m. Thursday at Boulder Highway and Russell Road.

The Mercedes demolished the Nissan, pushing it more than 100 yards down Boulder Highway.

Two people in the Nissan died.

The man driving the Mercedes wasn't reported to have been injured.

The names of the three people weren't immediately made public.

The Mercedes driver is being held at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas pending an initial court appearance.
