Two Salem Police officers were taken to Salem Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after a car crash early this morning.
It is unclear at this time what caused the collision between a police car and another vehicle, but the driver remained on scene to cooperate with the investigation.
The accident happened just after 5 a.m. on the corner of State St. and Lancaster Dr., according to Lt. Okada with Salem Police. Lt. Okada said this intersection will be open to traffic soon.
The two police officers were responding to a call when they were T-boned at Lancaster Dr. and State St. Both cars have been towed away from the scene.
They are still being evaluated at the hospital, but no names have been released at this time.
Lt. Okada gave a press briefing on scene and he talked about the effect on other officers when their own are hurt. Traffic delays are ongoing while police complete investigation.
