McDuffie County,GA :Couple injured in motorcycle crash on I-20 on Wednesday, July 1st 2015
A Mississippi couple riding a motorcycle through McDuffie County was seriously injured after crashing onto the roadway Wednesday.First responders were dispatched to the wreck on Interstate 20 westbound, near exit 175 at 12:18 p.m.McDuffie County Sheriff’s Office deputies, McDuffie County EMS, McDuffie County Fire Rescue Service and the Georgia State Patrol scrambled because it was first thought that a car had hit a motorcycle and that there were numerous injuries.Upon arrival, responders found that Byron Underwood had crashed his motorcycle onto the shoulder. Law enforcement and emergency vehicles blocked both lanes and traffic was backed up for miles for more than an hour. According to Georgia State Patrol Trooper John Freeman, Underwood, 49, of Mississippi, lost control, laid the bike down and he and his wife, Heather Underwood, slid a few feet on the side. Both sustained serious injuries and scrapes, he said. The two were transported by ambulance to Georgia Regents University Medical Center in Augusta.
