Bloomington , IN : Bloomington man injured in Brown County crash on Wednesday ,June 17h 2015
A Bloomington man was flown to Methodist Hospital at IU Health in Indianapolis after the vehicle he was traveling in was struck by another vehicle Wednesday on Ind. 46 in Brown County.
Just before 4 p.m., Jason Carter, of Bloomington, had stopped his 2011 Subaru in the eastbound lane of the highway to turn left into a driveway, according to a news release from the Indiana State Police. A car driven by Zachary Byer, of Loretto, Kentucky, was approaching Carter's vehicle in the eastbound lane. Byer's 2005 Ford passenger car then ran into the back of Carter's Subaru. The cause of the collision is not known, but speed was likely a factor, according to the news release.
Carter had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was then transported in an Indiana University Health Lifeline Helicopter to Methodist Hospital.
In addition to Indiana State Police, the Brown County Sheriff's Department, Nashville Fire Department, Nashville Police Department and Columbus Regional Hospital Ambulance also assisted in working the crash.
