SYRACUSE, NY : DeWitt man crashes into 2 cars, police vehicle, tree in the city of Syracuse on Monday, 7th January 2019
Two people were taken to hospitals after a DeWitt man crashed his pickup truck multiple times Monday night in the city of Syracuse, police said.
Richard West, 48, was driving a green Chevrolet pickup truck erratically on West Street around 5 p.m. when he crashed into a white Toyota at the intersection of West Fayette Street, city police spokesman Lt. Dave Brown said.
Four minutes later, Syracuse Police Officer Meghan Lewis saw West’s pickup truck driving erratically at the intersection of West and West Onondaga streets, Brown said. The officer learned West had crashed his pickup truck into another vehicle at this intersection, Brown said.
West’s pickup truck had become lodged on a curb. As Officer Lewis tried to approach the pickup truck, “the driver spun his tires and freed the truck, which backed into the stopped police vehicle then attempted to drive away," Brown said.
