McAlester, OK :Motorcyclist killed in Pittsburg County crash on Wednesday, July 1st 2015

A Strang man was killed when a van failed to yield at a stop sign and crashed into his motorcycle Wednesday morning, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.Michael Nicholson, 60, was riding a 2005 Honda north on U.S. 69 near McAlester when a westbound Dodge van pulled onto the highway from Airport Road about 9:35 a.m., troopers said. The van crashed into Nicholson's motorcycle, throwing him about 55 feet.Nicholson died at the scene.The van's driver, Shirley Burwell, 74, and two passengers, Tommie Mason, 85, and Betty Hamlin, 70, all of Eufaula, were not injured, the OHP reported.
