Houma , LA : Thibodaux man killed and two others injured in crash after he lost contrrol of his car into another car on Saturday , January 3rd 2015
A Thibodaux man was killed Saturday night after losing control of his car and crashing into another car on La. 311 in Houma, State Police said.
Chad Labat, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Terrebonne Parish Coroner's Office, State Police Troop C spokesman Evan Harrell said. Troopers began investigating the crash just before 10 p.m.
Labat was driving a 2002 Honda Accord south near Equity Boulevard when the car crossed the centerline, rotated counter-clockwise and struck a northbound 2015 Honda Accord driven by Kirk Craig, 53, of Metairie, Harrell said. Craig was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center with what police described as moderate injuries.
Labat's car split into three pieces, and he was ejected, Harrell said. One of the pieces hit a northbound 1994 Chevrolet truck driven by August Bennett, 49, of Belle Rose. He was taken to TGMC with moderate injuries.
Craig and Bennett were wearing seat belts. Because of the damage to Labat's car, Harrell said, troopers could not immediately determine if he was wearing a seat belt.
Alcohol use is unknown, but routine toxicology tests are pending for Labat, and blood was taken from Craig and Bennett, police said. The crash is under investigation.
