Ocala, FL : Man left scene of accident on Monday, December, 11th 2017
A 22-year-old Ocala man was arrested early Tuesday and accused of being involved in a hit-and-run crash.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday, Ocala police officials were called to the 3000 block of Southeast Maricamp Road in reference to a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured one person. When officers arrived, they saw a Toyota Tacoma on the south shoulder. It was severely damaged and on its roof.
The driver, 62-year-old Alonzo Goetz of Ocala, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries to his upper body.
A witness told an officer that he was driving behind the Toyota when a red, two-door vehicle hit the Toyota on the driver’s side while changing lanes. The impact caused the Toyota to veer off the roadway and overturn.
The witness said he followed the red vehicle, which traveled northbound on Southeast 24th Road, and got a tag number. The witness then returned to the scene to check on Goetz.
At the scene, officers found a red painted piece of plastic bumper cover.
Officers were able to find an address that matched the tag number. At the home, located not far away, officers found a freshly damaged two-door vehicle in the garage.
The officers was able to make contact with Brody Hall at the home, who told them that he had been drinking alcohol at the home.
Officers spoke to a man who was at the home and the man said Hall had called to tell him that he had been involved in a crash and was scared. The man said he told Hall to come to his home.
Police officials recovered the vehicle Hall was driving, a 2017 Toyota 86, and arrested him at 12:19 a.m. Before going to the Marion County Jail, Hall was taken to a local hospital to be checked. Once he was cleared, he was transported to the jail. At the jail, Hall declined to talk to officers about the crash.
Aside from his charge, leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury, Hall also received a citation for improper change of lane.
