The driver of a Chevrolet Camaro died when his car crashed into a concrete pylon on the 15 Freeway in Rancho Cucamonga and burst into flames after a nearby Chevrolet Corvette had spun out of control, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.
The CHP said the two cars were traveling “at speeds in excess of 65 mph” on the northbound 15 Freeway near the 210 Freeway when the crash occurred just before 5:15 p.m. Saturday.
“Both vehicles were taken for evidence, which means we will be downloading computer information from both to determine the speeds of the vehicles at the time of the crash,” said CHP Officer Jesus Garcia, a department spokesman. “We will also be looking for possible witnesses to see what happened.”
