A 53-year-old Spartanburg woman died Monday after police said she crashed into the center column of a railroad bridge.
Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said the victim of the single-vehicle wreck on Beaumont Avenue near Isom Road was Sharon Lea Williams of Larch Circle in Spartanburg.
She was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:11 a.m., Clevenger said in an email.
The manner of death is pending toxicology tests, he said.
Williams’ gold Cadillac struck the center column of the railroad bridge about midday, Police Maj. Art Littlejohn said.
Spartanburg police, along with the Spartanburg Fire Department and Spartanburg EMS were on the scene.
