MASON CITY, IA : One hurt in four-vehicle crash near Mason City on Thursday, December 22nd 2016
A man was hurt Thursday when he crashed a car into two vehicles parked on a rural road south of Mason City.
Richard Birkholz, 74, was driving east on 210th Street when his Ford Focus hit a Chrysler Pacifica and a Chevy Silverado stopped near Ravenwood Avenue, according to a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office statement.
Deputies say no one was in the Chrysler Pacifica, which was disabled and on the shoulder of the road.
The Silverado was driven by Dale Hoss, 47, who had stopped on the roadway to help another motorist, Dawn Hoss, also 47, who had side-swiped the Pacifica earlier with a Chevy Trailblazer.
Dawn Hoss's vehicle stopped in the roadway after hitting the Pacifica, deputies said.
Birkholz did not see Pacifica, hit it, and then continued on and hit Dale Hoss's vehicle, according to the statement.
