Suitland, MD : Minivan crashed into a security booth at the Carriage Hill Apartments on Friday afternoon July 18th 2014.

A minivan crashed into a security booth at the Carriage Hill Apartments on Friday afternoon, pinning the guard on duty. When residents of the Carriage Hill Apartments on the 3400 block of Curtis Drive left their homes on Friday, they witnessed a tow truck pulling a white minivan—after it had smashed right through the security guard shack.
“I heard a big ol’ boom,” said witness Ted Carpenter. “Once the white van pulled, it went up the hill and it kind of stopped for a second, and then it took off … once it took off, it ran into the booth.”
Inside that booth was a security guard affectionately known in the neighborhood as “Fish.”
“He was actually under the car when all that happened, so he’s going like under the car, like everything is good,” Carpenter said.
Fish was trapped inside, but still able to give residents the thumbs up. Rescue crews were able to get him out from underneath the van. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
“Stuff like that just doesn’t happen,” Carpenter said. “That’s not every day.”
The incident remains under investigation.
