Pulaski County, KY : Anchorage man dies in car crash south of Lexington on Tuesday, December 20, 2016

A 24-year-old from Alaska died Tuesday in a wreck on the Lake Cumberland Bridge in Pulaski County, Kentucky, about 80 miles south of Lexington.

Around 3:40 p.m. EST Tuesday, officers arrived to the scene of the accident, involving a 2011 Ford pickup truck and a Kentucky Highway Dept. backhoe, on the eastbound side of the Cumberland Parkway on Fishing Creek Bridge.

According to Sheriff Greg Speck of the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office, preliminary investigation showed that the pickup truck, driven by David Perry, 55, of Collierville, Tenn., was headed eastbound when it struck the rear of the backhoe.

Two passengers were in the pickup truck at the time of the accident: Shannon Acosta, 22, and Perry's son Brandon, 24, of Anchorage. Acosta and both David and Brandon Perry were treated at the scene before being transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Brandon Perry later succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the accident and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
