LITCHFIELD, NY : Sauquoit man died after a motor vehicle accident on Monday, November, 20th 2017

State police in Herkimer said a Sauquoit man died after a motor vehicle accident on Roberts Road in the town of Litchfield on Nov. 20.

Rodney A. Randall, 51, was operating a 2008 Pontiac while headed south on Roberts Road when he attempted to overtake a tractor trailer in a no passing zone, according to state police.

Randall overcorrected when he re-entered the driving lane, lost control of his vehicle and exited the south shoulder of the roadway, police said.

The vehicle then proceeded to strike a culvert and became airborne, overturning and coming to a rest upright, police said.

State police said Randall was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
