one man was killed and another wounded in a shooting on a Dan Ryan Expressway ramp in Chinatown Wednesday evening, and two police officers were injured in a crash not far south while responding to the attack, authorities said.
Jeremy Scullark, 28, was pronounced dead on the scene of the shooting near Cermak Road and Wentworth Avenue, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Another man was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound, according to a Chicago Fire Department spokesman. A condition was not available.
The shooting took place on I-94 northbound at the exit to Cermak Road about 5:10 p.m., according to a statement from the Illinois State Police.
Two Chicago police officers and two other people were injured near 31st Street and Shields Avenue as police were responding to the attack, officials said.
The officers were taken to Stroger Hospital and the two other people were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening, according to fire officials.
One officer was in serious condition and the other was in good condition, according to a police media notification.
