Wausau, WI : One injured in downtown Wausau crash on Thursday, February 23, 2017

A man was injured in a crash Thursday in downtown Wausau.

Police received a call at 8:55 a.m. reporting the crash at First Avenue and Stewart Avenue, on the west side of the river. The driver of a blue car heading east on Stewart Avenue failed to stop at a red light, said Wausau Police Lt. Dwayne Dachel. That driver crashed into a green SUV heading north on First Avenue, injuring the driver of the SUV.

Traffic was slowed around the area as emergency personnel cleared the scene. Dachel said the injured man was in his late 80s and was taken by ambulance for medical treatment.

The driver of the blue car will be cited for violating a red light, Dachel said.
