Gainesville, FL : Hawthorne woman injured in crash on U.S. 301 on Tuesday, December 27, 2016

A Hawthorne woman was seriously injured in a crash midday Tuesday.

Shayla Renee Gordon, 20, was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital following the accident on U.S. 301, the Florida Highway Patrol reported in a media release.

The crash occurred about 12:08 p.m. on northbound U.S. 301 at Southeast 57th Avenue. Gordon was driving a 2014 Hyundai Accent on 57th Avenue turning left onto U.S. 301. She pulled into the path of a 2010 Volkswagen Beetle driven by Jessica Lynn Shipley, 21, of Adams Center, NY, the FHP report states.

Shipley was taken to Shands with minor injuries. Gordon was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic.
