Jackson, WY : 27-year-old Chase Sanders and 23-year-old Jessica Sanders died in crash on U.S. Highway 191 near Jackson on Friday, July 1, 2016

A crash southeast of Jackson, Wyoming resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Wyoming woman.

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sgt. David Wagener said the crash happened Friday at 8 a.m. on U.S. Highway 191 about 19 miles from Jackson.

Wagener said a Kawasaki motorcycle with two people was traveling north. The motorcycle entered the southbound lane to pass two vehicles in a no-passing zone on a blind curve.

Wagener said the driver of the motorcycle, 27-year-old Chase Sanders, didn't see a southbound Chevy with a cargo trailer. Wagener said the motorcycle began to re-enter the northbound lane and side-swiped the Chevy. Chase Sanders and his passenger, 23-year-old Jessica Sanders, were thrown from the motorcycle. Jessica Sanders and the motorcycle hit a northbound pickup towing a trailer.

Jessica Sanders died at the scene. Chase Sanders was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Idaho. Wagener said neither were wearing a helmet.

Wagener said speed, passing in a no passing zone, and lack of helmet use are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
