GUTHRIE COUNTY, IA : Iowa bicyclist killed after being struck by truck on Wednesday, 31st January 2024

A Guthrie Center man died after the bike he was riding was struck by a pickup truck Wednesday.

The collision happened east of Guthrie Center on Highway 44 around 5:38 p.m., according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol. Wayne Hayes, 69, was cycling westbound on Highway 44 just east of Bluff Street, and was pulling a bicycle buggy, when he was hit by a westbound Ford F-150.
