Warwick,RI : West Warwick man arrested in hit-and-run pedestrian crash on February, Wednesday 21th 2018

A West Warwick man is charged in a hit-and-run crash that left a local man hospitalized this week.

James Pinel, 58, was arrested over the weekend, and police said Sunday that they also seized the car that they believe struck 31-year-old Eduardo Amaral near the Walmart on Post Road Wednesday night.

The driver fled the scene in a gray Acura RLX sedan, leaving Amaral badly hurt. Amaral was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he remained Sunday in stable condition, according to police.

Officers in the traffic division, with help from police in Coventry and West Warwick, investigated the crash and zeroed in on Pinel. He was arraigned over the weekend on a charge with duty to stop in a crash resulting in injury and released on $2,000 with surety. He is scheduled to appear at District Court on March 6.
