New Castle, PA : Young man injured in car-pedestrian accident on May, Wednesday, 10th 2017

A man is in St. Elizabeth Hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car near the intersection of Falls and Lowry streets Wednesday.

According to a family member, DeWayne Banbury, 18, of Grant Street was walking with his girlfriend and her daughter about 6 p.m. Wednesday when he crossed the street and was hit by a car.

His sister, Kathleen Banbury, said her brother was taken to Jameson Hospital then transferred to St. Elizabeth in Youngstown, where he underwent brain surgery due to swelling and bleeding of the brain. She added that he has no other injuries.

His condition was not known, and no report of the accident was available from the New Castle Police Department.

Kathleen Banbury said she moved to the area from Florida about a year and a half ago, and that her brother has lived in New Castle for about eight months.
