Scituate, R.I : Two people injured in semi-truck collision on Route 6 in Rhode Island on Thursday afternoon, Oct 8, 2015
Police say two men were injured after a tractor-trailer coming from a Connecticut Frito-Lay factory collided with a car in Rhode Island.
Both lanes of the Route 6 bypass in Scituate were closed for more than four hours Thursday afternoon.
Scituate's police chief says a 2000 Honda crossed over the center line and hit the tractor-trailer.
Col. David Randall says the Honda hit the tractor-trailer on the driver's side, rupturing its fuel tank. The impact sent the Honda back over the center line.
Randall says crews cut the Honda's roof to extricate the man. He was seriously injured and taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
Randall says the state Department of Environmental Management also responded to clean up more than 100 gallons of diesel fuel that had spilled onto the road.
