MARION COUNTY, FL : 1 seriously injured in 3-vehicle Marion crash on Sunday, January 15th 2017
One person was seriously injured and two others suffered minor injuries in a crash involving three cars in Marion County Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred on State Road 40 near NE 125th Terrace Road at around 9:30 a.m.
According to investigators, Velma Coan-Reynolds, 80, was driving east on State Road 40 when she swerved into the westbound lanes, possibly due to suffering a medical episode.
Reynolds' car struck John and Marilyn Green, 65 and 62, respectively, in their 2012 Dodge Journey, causing it to overturn. Reynolds then struck another car before coming to rest on the north shoulder of SR 40 west.
Reynolds, the Greens, and the occupants of the third car -- Shannon Dean, 35, Kayla Proctor, 21, and Payton Currier, 6 -- were all transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. Investigators called Reynolds' injuries serious, while everyone else's were classified as "minor."
