Wilmington Police officers arrested Joseph Graham Merritt early Saturday morning after he reportedly caused a crash and left the scene.According to the police report,
officers received several similar 911 calls earlier Friday evening for a young man driving an older white Ford Taurus. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle each
time.The suspect vehicle then apparently caused a crash in the 500 block of Wooster Street and then allegedly left the scene.The other driver involved was able to get
a partial tag number which helped officers to identify a potential suspect vehicle.WPD officers and UNCW police officers were checking the area around Racine Drive and
located the likely suspect vehicle. Officers arrested Joseph Graham Merritt for DWI and Hit & Run.
