Fairfax, VA : Woman was killed car crash Tuesday about 3.45pm on May 6th 2014.

A woman was killed Tuesday on the Capital Beltway in Fairfax County when her car was struck from behind, the Virginia State Police said.

The woman’s car was stopped about 3:45 p.m. at the entrance to the northbound express lanes in the Annandale area when it was struck, according to spokeswoman Corinne Geller.The car that struck her vehicle caught fire, but its driver escaped with minor injuries, Geller said.

The woman and two other people were taken to a hospital, where the woman died.

A third car was involved in the incident, but it was not immediately clear just how.

No name was available for the woman.
