Sarasota County, FL : Tyler Ryan Castillo, 19, injured in an accident on Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota on Wednesday morning, January 21, 2015

A motorcycle crash on Bee Ridge Road critically injured a Sarasota man Wednesday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Tyler Ryan Castillo, 19, was taken by BayFlite helicopter to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton.

Castillo’s Honda motorcycle collided with a Ford Escape. Castillo fell off the motorcycle and into the westbound lane of Bee Ridge Road. A Ford F-250 pickup truck struck him.

The motorcycle continued east on the grass median before it struck a tree.

Castillo suffered a fractured leg, the Sarasota County Fire Department reported. The FHP reported he was in stable condition.

The driver of the Escape, Jeff Youry Etienne, 26, was not injured. The occupants of the F-250 were not injured.

Castillo was cited for careless driving and driving with an expired registration.
