Traverse City, MI : Two people injured after a Head-on crash south of Leland on Sunday, December 11, 2016

Two drivers were hospitalized after one lost control and crossed into the path of another south of Leland.

The head-on crash happened Sunday at about 11 a.m. when a 19-year-old woman from Tinley Park, Illinois, was driving north in a 2000 Lexus on North Manitou Trail, according to a Leelanau County sheriff's department release. She lost control of her vehicle north of Oxford Drive and veered across the centerline into the path of a 65-year-old Leland man driving a 2004 Hyundai.

County sheriff's deputies and Leland Fire and Rescue responded, finding two injured drivers inside vehicles with damaged front ends, according to the release. The drivers were taken to Munson Medical Center with minor injuries.

Roads were slippery, and the woman was ticketed for driving too fast for conditions, according to the release.
