Glen Alpine, North Carolina
Police have identified the names of the drivers involved in a head-on collision that happened in Glen Alpine on Monday.
Kenneth Wayne Farmer Jr., 42, of Morganton, was driving north on Turkey Tail Drive when his Chevrolet Silverado crossed the center line and collided with a Ford Escape, said Glen Alpine Police Chief Rodney Cox.
The Escape was driven by Amber Nicole Lackey, 40, of Morganton, who had a 10-year-old and a 12-year-old in the back seats, Cox said.
The vehicle nearly was stopped when the truck collided with it, said Trooper J.J. Byland of the N.C. State Highway Patrol. Still, the collision caused the Escape to slide backwards 38 feet.
Farmer was flown by helicopter to an Asheville hospital, while the Escape’s occupants were treated locally, Byland said. Cox said Tuesday afternoon that everyone has been released and are OK.
