POWNAL, VT : Driver, 18, hurt in 1-car crash on Route 7 on Tuesday, 2nd October 2018
An 18-year-old Pownal driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries in a one-car crash on Route 7 on Tuesday afternoon, Vermont State Police said.
Police said Dylan J. Mason was headed south on Route 7 when he pulled out to pass another car, merged back into the southbound lane, and steered too sharply on the wet blacktop. When the car's tires left the road and hit the wet grass, the driver overcorrected, sending the car into a 180-degree spin and off the roadway, where it struck a tree.
The car, a 2005 Subaru Impreza, was totaled, police said. Mason was wearing a seat belt.
The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of Route 7 and Kings Way.
Mason and his passenger, who was not identified, were treated at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
Mason is to be charged with failure to stay within marked lanes and driving faster than conditions permit, according to police.
Members of the Pownal Fire Department and Pownal Rescue Squad assisted at the scene. The crash is under investigation.
