Cascade Locks, OR : 65-year-old Washington man died in a single-vehicle wreck in Cascade Locks on Sunday morning, July 5, 2015
A driver died at the scene of a single-vehicle wreck Sunday morning in Cascade Locks on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge.
A man was found dead at the scene by first responders.
Just after 6 a.m., Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Forest Lane in Cascade Locks. A resident reported hearing the crash and then observed a vehicle crashed into a guardrail.
Upon arriving on the scene, emergency personnel discovered a 1998 Jeep pickup had been traveling on Forest Lane when the driver left the roadway and lost control. The pickup struck the end of a guardrail, which forced it through the front windshield.
Approximately 35 feet of guardrail was destroyed by the crash. State police were assisted by the Hood River County Sheriff's Office and Cascade Locks Fire and EMS in response to the wreck.
Contributing factors are still being investigated.
