Mansfield, OH : Tractor-trailer driver dies struck an ambulance rollover crash on Sunday September 27 2015.
Authorities say a tractor-trailer struck an ambulance that had responded to a rollover crash in north-central Ohio, and the truck driver died after his rig burst into flames.
The State Highway Patrol's Mansfield post says the Mifflin Township ambulance had its overhead lights activated and was stopped along westbound U.S. Route 30 when it was hit late Sunday morning. Troopers say the truck then swerved across the road, veered off the other side into a wooded area and caught fire.
Mifflin police Capt. Ray Scott tells the Mansfield News Journal he and another person tried to rescue the driver but couldn't after the fuel tank exploded.
The patrol says the crash killed 52-year-old Anthony Fuerst of Columbus Grove.
Two emergency medical technicians were taken to a hospital as a precaution.
