LUMBERTON, NC : Man dies in single-car accident on Monday, 4th March 2019
Lumberton, North Carolina
A Lumberton man was killed Saturday on South Robeson Road in a vehicle he bought 10 hours earlier, according to the state Highway Patrol.
The single-vehicle crash happened at 7:06 p.m., about two miles south of Raynham, according to Trooper C.D.Lowry’s report.
Lyn Hunt, 34, of Baucom Avenue, was driving a 2012 Hyundai passenger car he bought about 9 a.m. east at an estimated speed of 90 mph, according to the report. As the car entered a curve, it crossed the center line, ran off the left side of the road and slammed into the end of a guard rail. The rail pierced the vehicle’s windshield.
The Hyundai came to rest in some nearby woods.
Hunt, who was wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report. He was alone in the vehicle.
